Christian Musumari Malanga is the President of New Zaire, currently leading the “New Zaire First” initiative where entrepreneurs and innovators will thrive. He is the organizer of the United Congolese Party (UCP). A grassroot platform that unifies the Congolese Diaspora around the world opposing the current Congolese dictatorship government regime. Before entering politics, he was a businessman, philanthropist and a former Congolese military veteran. Mr. Malanga is currently married to Lucile Malanga; he is a proud father of 8 children.
Christian Malanga was born on January 2, 1983, in Kinshasa former Zaire. His father was Joseph Itedjo Malanga from the Mangai Village and his mother Christine Kapayi a Kinshasa local. Malanga grew up in one of the poorest parts of Kinshasa, Lobo Ngaba, it was common for the houses in that area not to have indoor plumbing system. He recalls his parents doing their best to provide him and his sibling the necessities of life (education etc.). By the age of 5 years old, he lost his beloved mother, his Father Joseph Malanga later remarried Chantal Kibonge Malanga. Christian Malanga is the oldest of the combined 6 children of his late father.
At the tender age of 8 years old, his father disappeared fearing for his life after a political massacre in Lubumbashi which lead to Ethnic reprisals. The whole family was able to escape this ordeal, joining their father. Relocating to South Africa, then Swaziland as refugees, enduring complexities of displacement. As part of the refugee resettlement program, the Malangas were fortunate to be sponsored to relocate to Salt Lake City, Utah, United States of America in the late 1990s. Moving to the USA changed Mr. Malanga’s life, he excelled in education as a student at Highland High School. He was a member of a few high school clubs. What he enjoyed the most was being part of the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC), which was the leading fundamental building blocks of his life.
As he graduated High School; he went on to receiving his pilots training, computer software training, hardware training, business mentorship and more. He started series of small businesses, leading to him being the first African/Black American in the State of Utah to register as a car dealer. Mr. Malangas many businesses in Africa involved; water purification and bottling plant, mining factories, various other businesses to offer the local people employment. He also did the importing of goods to the Congo and Angola, as well as donating much needed medical supplies, clothing, school supplies to the war-torn Regions. Having had the opportunity to grow up in USA with resources most Congolese children never had, Christian Malanga and his family started non-profit organizations, opening an orphanage which has allowed over 20 children to get adopted, finding families. Over 30 college aged young people receiving college admissions to the USA for higher learning. Mr. Malanga is a strong believer and advocate for higher education.
His political story began when he chose to join the military to serve his Country. As a leading officer in the military, he was responsible of over 230 troops. They led a charge against the Mai-Mai rebel group. That is when he witnessed a vast effects of government corruption. As a leader of his military brigade, he saw the governments lack of concern for their citizens. Military men placing their lives in danger, being over worked and under paid. Being the man of action, he decided to be the voice of change for the people, which launched his political career.
Realizing the Congolese people were ready for change, demanding strong political leadership. Mr. Malanga in 2011 campaigned for the Congolese Governmental office. He knew with the successful experience he has had in Business; he was the man to lead the drastic reformation against corruption. He believed Congo has so much potential in all aspect, it will take a visionary leader to level the Country to compete in the World stage. Frustrated with lack of consensus among opposition leaders charged with choosing presidential candidates, Mr. Malanga turned his attention to campaigning for the Congolese Parliament. While campaigning, he was arrested on bogus charges, held against his will for over two weeks. Where he endured torturous beatings, he thought he was going to lose his life, until the Carter Foundation and United Nations came to his rescue.
Returning to the USA in 2012, Christian Malanga devoted the following years into founding the United Congolese Party (UCP). A networking organization for the Congolese Diaspora’s voice to amplify against the current government regime. Reaching members in Europe, Americas, Africa, Australia, the Middle East and beyond. President Christian Malanga’s grassroot efforts as a Congolese political activist, has allowed him to introduce the Human Rights violations incited by the Congolese government at the forefront of the World stage. Appealing to Senators, Government officials in the USA, UK, The Vatican, the Country of Georgia, and the World. He has a passion for taking complex projects from the initial planning stages to launch and beyond. That is why heading his vision for “New Zaire First” initiative is the blood that is currently running through his veins.
“If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a family (Nation)” – an African Proverb. Mr. Malanga has launched a movement to reinvent the Congolese Women, proposing that education, economic and societal freedom is necessary for Congolese women to progress as citizens. Christian Malanga understands it will take the efforts of all Congolese people to fight for the change they wish to see in their Country, it is not a job for one man. “Ask not what your Country can do for you, but what you can do for your Country?
